If you’ve been exploring the blog, you may have have noticed that everything on my ‘summer to remember’ list has been ticked off, and on day 85 my summer to remember has come to an end as I will be moving to York St John university tomorrow. If you haven’t read my ‘StR’ page, please do check it out and find the 20 things I managed to do this summer after finishing my A-Levels!
Upon reflection, my original list is a lot different to how my summer panned out. Am I worried or upset about that? No, I’m not. Why not? Because life cannot be planned. After doing this ‘summer to remember’ and challenging myself to blog every day for 85 days, I’ve come to find that it is impossible to plan the future, because life is too unpredictable. Yes, if you plan hard enough, you can achieve things! For instance, I went on two holidays this summer (one with friends, one with family); I went fruit picking for the first time; I visited a museum; I even gained AAB in my A-Levels! But most importantly I spent time with the people I love most and I made some incredible memories!
But there was things that I didn’t get to do: I didn’t go to London, I didn’t learn to drive, and I unfortunately didn’t hug a celebrity – although those things would have been nice, it doesn’t matter that I didn’t do them because I did some amazing others things instead! I made cakes, I visited two new cities, I spent time with my best friends! So if there’s anything I can pass on about this adventure is that don’t be disheartened by the plans that didn’t happen, because it’s likely that something more amazing is going to happen! That’s not to say sit back and wait for life to hand you those moments: I wouldn’t have done half the things I did this summer without setting up this blog and trying my hardest to have a fulfilling summer!!! So get out there, don’t be afraid, and make your dreams a reality!! (And take good photographs so you can show me!) If I’ve inspired you to create a ‘summer to remember’ or whatever season/time to remember, or to blog for 85 consecutively, or to try new things – I’d love to hear about it! If not, well, I just hope you’ve had a good time reading this blog!
I’m glad to say that I’ve learned some things about myself doing this! I’ve learned that you can’t rush creativity – it just doesn’t happen! Being a writer, I tried to force myself to finish chapters, knowing full well they weren’t up to standard, I was just putting myself on a strict deadline. Trust me, this doesn’t work! We all shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves! Just think about all of the amazing things you’ve done! I’ve learned that my love of makeup is being a passion, and I should pursue that passion! I still haven’t decided the best way to pursue the makeup passion, but once I’ve thought of a suitable way, you’ll be hearing about it soon!!
Now I’m going to university, I’m going to learn a lot more about myself, and I will happily share those lessons with you. I’m hoping my writing will develop, and that one day I will be able to publish a book. Hopefully you might see my name on a book cover sometime in the future!
I’m not really sure how to conclude this post, and this chapter of my life, and there will be many tears shed tomorrow, as well as laughs and smiles. But here’s to you, the reader, who kept me writing, who kept me exploring, and kept me believing that there was someone out there who wanted to hear my voice! I cannot thank you enough, and I now have 122 more friends because of this blog! Thank you so very much!
As to whether I’m going to keep blogging, I know I’m definitely not going to blog everyday for a while! But then again I wouldn’t know what to do with my evenings! However, I will keep you informed on my university adventure, and maybe create posts dedicated to the new chapter of my life!
A last line from me: I’m young, and I have a lot of time to pursue dreams and go on adventures, but even though I’m so young I’ve come to learn that time is so very short. Don’t let life pass you by, seize it within your fingers and squeeze every drop of happiness out of it – because you deserve to be happy, and you deserve to have an amazing life. So live it.
Until next time!
